AM-64/128A
Baseband Modems
Brochure
Designed
to meet the demanding criteria of Communications markets worldwide
is the ATL range of xDSL baseband modems. The AM-Series offers reliable
data transfer for the last mile of your data network. Full duplex
transmission is provided over a 2- wire copper twisted pair using
AMI (full width pulse shaping) and echo cancellation transmission
techniques, delivering improved noise immunity. Ideally suited to
driving data between computers, high-speed multiplexers, X.25 nodes
or LAN bridges and peripheral devices, ATL's baseband modems can
be used to drive data between any two locations that require high-speed
data transfer. In addition it is possible to tail-end digital services
through the use of the external clocking facility. The AM-Series
applications include complete access system provisioning, when used
with the AM-70-MAX multiplexer family, allowing grooming of up to
85 64kbps circuits from one multiplexer shelf.
The range of operation is dependent upon
the transmission line rate, any bridged taps present and the cable
gauge. This range can be achieved over any mix of cable gauges normally
encountered in a local telephone network. The limiting attenuation
range is 50dB.
AM-64/128 modems

High-density shelf accommodating up to 12
cards is available. Card and standalone modems are functionally
equivalent. An LCD and menu driven software are used for setting
loops, configuration and providing status displays. Front panel
LEDs indicates Fault, Test and Data transmission Status. A communications
channel is included in the line signal structure allowing both ends
of a circuit to be configured from one modem.
AM-64/128A provides data interfaces at
the rear via a wide range of plug in modules. Line cables can be
provided to suit local markets. Asynchronous working to 19.2kbps
is supported. For rackmount modems, an intermediate proprietary
interface is presented to the backplane of the host shelf. Separate
connector/cables assemblies map from the backplane to the required
DCE interface (i.e. X.21, V.24, V.35, analogue etc).

High Density Shelves
Two Rack versions are available - AM-Chassis
and AM-Managed Chassis. Both are 6VU high 19" rack mounting
according to DIN 41494 and accommodate a maximum of 12 modems from
the AM—Series. There is no restriction on the mix of interface
types or modems in a shelf. Shelves can be powered by either 230V;
120V AC mains or a 48V DC power supply unit.

AM- Chassis
The basic version of the Shelf comes complete
with a high reliability Power Supply and an LCD Display Unit. System
configuration and testing is performed via the shelf LCD display
unit and menu selection buttons. Individual modem configuration
is selected by pressing the display select key on the front of the
modem. The AM-Chassis supports single pair working. AM-Managed
Chassis This Shelf allows more comprehensive system management,
via a Controller Module or Network Element. System configuration
of cards and circuits is via the Menu buttons, a Windows - based
GUI or ANMP (a platform independent SNMP software package).

The shelf comes complete with power supply
and VT100 or Ethernet controller modules. Rackmount modems are front
loading with cable termination at the rear.
