OM100 [Specifications & Ordering Information]
4 x 2Mbps Fibre Optic Multiplexer

The OM100 is a 4 port multiplexer designed to transport multiple channels of voice or data over optical fibre for point-to-point transmission applications such as base station backhaul. The use of optical fibre as the transmission medium greatly extends the range between modems compared to DSL systems. Due to the sturdy and compact design of the OM100 it can be easily located on a desktop or wall mounted in the same way as a DSL modem.

The OM100 offers a range of options to suit the specific needs of the user. Versions are available for use with single mode or multi mode fibre, and the option of full duplex transmission over a single fibre offers distinct cost and reliability benefits. The availability of a 1+1 protection switched version further improves the reliability of an installation.

Four E1 ports are multiplexed onto a single or dual fibre channel for onward optical transmission. Each of the four user channels can deliver a framed or unframed E1 service.

The OM100 includes built in alarms as well as comprehensive test and diagnostic facilities for ease of commissioning the links. Both the local and remote modems can be configured and managed using the integral user friendly management system. This is accessed from a VT100 terminal or PC with terminal emulation software connected to the front panel
management port on the master modem. The OM100 has been designed with reliability in mind to ensure high quality of service for all four user channels. Dual power feeding further enhances the system reliability.
