DPX-650 MUX
The DPX 650 reduces data transmission costs
associated with low speed leased telephone lines. In many telcos
leasedline costs are heavily dependent on the distance between source
and destination telephone exchanges (and the number of inter-exchange
trunks utilised).
A true Time Division Multiplexer, the DPX-650
allows data from several sites in a local telephone area to be collected
onto a single higher speed line and sent to a distant computer site
where it is demultiplexed into the original channel order.
The product is suitable for any network
utilising low speed asynchronous data lines for telemetry or control.
It is especially cost effective for situations where the computer
hub is distant from a cluster of geographically grouped series of
sites with which it must communicate.
It is ideally suited to the Sydney Co-Ordinated
Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) in handling communications from
several traffic control intersection sites in an area remote from
the Regional Computer which controls it.
Rather than
run several expensive long lines direct from each site to the regional
computer, lines are collected in their local Telstra exchange area
at minimum line charge, and multiplexed onto a higher speed line
for transmission to the distant computer.
